Soho’s Secret Tea Room

While I’m on the topic of tea and cake, I feel it is time to share a secret with you all… Hidden above the Coach & Horses pub in Soho is a Secret Tea Room. Soho’s Secret Tea Room invites you to indulge in scrumptious afternoon tea…and be tempted by delicious homecake cakes, scones, jams, fairy cakes & other delectable delights.

Soothed by the sounds of original 40s’ jazz & swing gramophone records, this is a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the West End. A little tips for those wanting to visit, it is above the Coach & Horses Pub, just behind the Palace Theatre. When we went to visit, we walked around the parameter of the pub exterior and expected to find another entrance for the tea room, but when they say its a “secret tea room” – it really is secret… We anxiously walked into the pub, and felt a little stupid asking the bar man “Erm, you don’t by any chance know how to get into Soho’s Secret Tea Room do you?”

In fact, you had to ask the bar staff because you would not have known otherwise. The landlord lead us behind the bar and up the stairs, I felt I was going behind the bar in the Queen Vic! Once we were seated, we weren’t disappointed. It was quiet so the service was thoughtful and quick.

Fresh flowers were on every table and mismatched cups and sauces decorated the surfaces

Tea was served fresh, and you were given an egg timer so you knew when it was brewed and ready to pour through the tea strainer and into the delicate china mug.

Be sure to visit soon!
